Q.1:- The rhythmic contraction of the lining of muscles of canal to push the food
along the gut is called ______.
1) peristalsis
2) facilitation
3) guttation
4) No option is correct.
Correct Answer: peristalsis
In the esophagus (ग्रासनली) (The esophagus or oesophagus commonly known as the food pipe or gullet (gut), is an organ in vertebrates through which food passes, aided by peristaltic contractions),
Two types of peristalsis occur:-
First, there is a primary peristaltic wave, which occurs when the bolus enters the esophagus during swallowing.
In the event that the bolus gets stuck or moves slower than the primary peristaltic wave (as can happen when it is poorly lubricated), stretch receptors in the esophageal lining are stimulated and a local reflex response causes a secondary peristaltic wave around the bolus, forcing it further down the esophagus, and these secondary waves continue indefinitely until the bolus enters the stomach. The process of peristalsis is controlled by medulla oblongata.

Q.2:-Which of the following represents the pair of sex chromosomes in men?
1) XY
2) XX
3) YY
4) No option is correct.
Correct Answer: XY
In humans, each cell normally contains 23 pairs of chromosomes, for a total of 46. Twenty-two of these pairs, called autosomes, look the same in both males and females. The 23rd pair, the sex chromosomes, differ between males and females. Females have two copies of the X chromosome, while males have one X and one Y chromosome.

Q.3:- Scientists of which country have developed working human skeletal muscle
from stem cells in the laboratory for the first time?
1) China
2) Japan
3) India
4) United States of America
Correct Answer: United States of America
Stem cells are a class of undifferentiated cells that are able to differentiate into specialized cell types. Commonly, stem cells come from two main sources:
Embryos formed during the blastocyst phase of embryological development (embryonic stem cells) and Adult tissue (adult stem cells).

Q.4:- Which of the following is a CORRECT relation of length of small intestines of an herbivore and a carnivore?
1) Herbivore = Carnivore
2) Herbivore < Carnivore
3) Herbivore > Carnivore
4) No option is correct.
Correct Answer: Herbivore > Carnivore
Herbivorous animals have longer intestines than that of carnivorous animals. This is because their diet is grass and plants, made up of fibre and cellulose which are hard to digest. As a result the herbivorous animals need a longer digestive track to digest their foods completely.

Q.5:- Organisms use bio-catalyst to break down complex substances into simpler substances. These bio-catalysts are called ______.
1) enzymes
2) hormones
3) vitamins
4) No option is correct.
Correct Answer: enzymes
Biocatalysis refers to the use of living (biological) systems or their parts to speed up (catalyze) chemical reactions. In biocatalytic processes, natural catalysts, such as enzymes, perform chemical transformations on organic compounds.

Yeast is a biocatalyst

Q.6:- To keep warm, polar bears have a layer of ________ under their skin.
1) muscle
2) fat
3) cartilage
4) hair
Correct Answer: fat
Polar bears are warm–blooded mammals, yet they live in freezing Arctic temperatures. They retain their body heat because of a thick coat of fur as well as a thick layer of fat under their skin. The insulating hairs help polar bears stay warm by trapping heat close to the skin.

Q.7:- Rayon is obtained from which among the following?
1) Silk
2) Wood pulp
3) Wool
4) Cotton
Correct Answer: Wood pulp
Manufactured cellulose fibers come from plants that are processed into a pulp and then extruded in the same ways that synthetic fibers like polyester or nylon aremade. Rayon or viscose is one of the most common “manufactured” cellulose fibers, and it can be made from wood pulp.

Q.8:- The smallest blood vessels which are one-cell thick, are called ______.
1) vena cava
2) arteries
3) veins
4) capillaries
Correct Answer: capillaries
Oxygen and digested food are to thick to pass through the walls of arteries and veins. Therefore arteries and veins are connected by tiny blood vessels called capillaries. These very tinny thin walled blood vessels are only one cell thick.

Q.9:- Pepsin is an enzyme that digests ______.
1) protein s
2) Starch
3) carbohydrate
4) fats
Correct Answer: proteins
Pepsin is an endopeptidase that breaks down proteins into smaller peptides (that is, a protease). It is produced in the stomach and is one of the main digestive enzymes in the digestive systems of humans and many other animals, where it helps digest the proteins in food.
